The Bottle Therapy Formula

As a Certified Wolfe Deep Tissue Therapist and previous client, I believed that to effectively break down scar tissue the treatment will most likely be painful AND create bruising. Over the course of Bottle Therapy’s evolution, I have had a major shift in my thinking! Through trial and error exploring the variables of technique, pressure, time, and frequency of treatments, I reprogrammed my “no pain, no gain” mentality.

The verdict? Bottle Therapy’s Formula will provide long-term relief from chronic injuries with much less pain during treatments and with minimal soft tissue trauma!

Paying $100/hr as a Wolfe Deep Tissue client for years, I welcomed painful treatments as this meant my fibrous tissue was being annihilated much more effectively than a gentle grind! At this stage, I believed that I required someone else to grind down scar tissue even on areas I COULD reach. I still, to this day, will rely on an “elbow grinder” or “expert Bottler” to treat my middle to upper back whenever it is needed as I wasn’t blessed with Go-Go-Gadget arms. However, I never imagined a “Wolfe Deep Tissue free” future for the areas, I could reach, with treatments that inflicted minimal pain and soft tissue trauma.

This complete therapy shift emerged from my determination to figure out how to fix my rotator cuff tear and upper arm pain, an annoying chronic injury I had suffered for 7 years on and off. Through daily dedication to my 5-10 minute Bottle Therapy treatments (and trial and error), the key variable of getting maximum long-lasting results with minimal soft tissue damage became very evident; the “frequency of treatments”. Therefore, tackling scar tissue DAILY until the injury is resolved is the secret to the formula, yet not so secret now.

Through this discovery process, I also concluded that the $2,500 plus I had spent on Wolfe Deep Tissue shoulder treatments was, in theory, a waste. Although the treatments provided immediate relief and full range of motion along with invaluable time spent learning first hand from Doctor Darrel Wolfe about Wolfe Deep Tissue and health information, the system of relying on a therapist to treat areas I can reach seems flawed. Even though I currently provide Wolfe Deep Tissue treatments in my regular practice, I disclose my intentions upfront with my clients about how I prefer to use the hour to treat them and then train them on the Bottle Therapy Formula.

Now, there are 2 main challenges based on my experience of why this system is flawed:

1. ‘Muscle memory’ desperately wants to keep your soft tissue seized the way it has been since your injury, with pain and stiffness most likely returning prior to the next treatment.

2. The percentage rate of re-injury between appointments is high. Let’s face it, during recovery from a deep tissue treatment, there is no way a person will remain completely inactive. Re-injured soft tissue means your therapist is backtracking and you are paying for a repeat treatment (all of which I used to think was normal and acceptable).

My scar tissue would not surrender because my shoulder remained in a vulnerable state, easy to re-injure during activities such as workouts, snowboarding, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, trampolining (yes, I’m extreme-lol) and repetitive household chores (not so extreme).

By following the Bottle Therapy Formula, along with Bottle Therapy’s “Fire-Up and Recovery Bottling” (preventing the ‘backtracking’ in my healing process), I am now 1 year into having a perfectly healthy and strong shoulder and arm with no record of re-injury or slight ‘tweak’! And, for the record, I didn’t do any strengthening exercises (exercise bands, etc.), just bottling and stretching. This rapid recovery of a long-term chronic condition was and still is my most notable breakthrough in my 20 years of therapy! No method or technique comes close to this.

I present to you, the Bottle Therapy Formula. Ta-da!

It’s not rocket science but there is a science to it! Here it is:

Technique: Imagine that you’re preparing to remove wallpaper off a wall that has been there for decades. What’s your technique? You may Youtube it and find that there are a precise tool and technique to scrape the wallpaper off with the least amount of damage to the drywall.

Like wallpaper removal, effective scar tissue breakdown requires the perfect self-therapy tool to “scrape” that scar tissue: a repurposed bottle. Learning the right technique and routines are what the Bottle Therapy Training Packages are all about.

Pressure: Fibrous tissue is like your body’s ‘super glue’ binding your soft tissue together, causing short, weak muscles and tendons leading to inflammation and the inevitable ‘tug of war’ effect on your joints. Using the right amount of pressure during self-therapy treatments will allow you to reach the scar tissue embedded in the deep layers of soft tissue. The more you practice bottling, the more familiar scar tissue chunks and knots will feel under the bottle and the more intuitive you will become in identifying when they start to break down, get smaller and either release or dissolve, depending on their size.

Your Bottle Therapy Coach will be happy to take the time to answer questions regarding this and will use video analysis when necessary to ensure you become an expert on pressure!

Time: As a Bottler, you could be using the right technique and pressure; however, the amount of time you take for each treatment will vary. If you make more time for a treatment, you will accomplish more. It’s like brushing your teeth. There’s an amount of time programmed into electric toothbrushes from 2-3 minutes ensuring a reasonable clean. However, over-doing it may cause gum damage.

For Bottle Therapy treatments, each area has varying depths of soft tissue, and therefore the time used will also vary. Every Bottler has unique levels of injuries where old and new scar tissue is at play. You maximize the results the longer you spend using the right technique and pressure. Now, if you spend too much time, you could also cause more bruising. We don’t bottle bruises, so if you overdo it, you must wait 2-3 days to bottle again which puts a damper on using the Bottle Therapy Formula’s secret ‘ingredient’-frequency.

Frequency: I have a silly question; should you brush your teeth daily or wait until you go to the dentist every 2 weeks – 6 months for him or her to do it? Big dilemma…not! There are daily habits we choose to do for health and prevention reasons. The buildup of tartar and the development of rotten teeth are preventable. The same goes for many painful conditions and preventable injuries.

PLEASE NOTE: Daily bottling required until injury resolved.

Your body was built to last a lifetime so take care of it!

Make the time daily to care for your body head to toe by breaking down scar tissue until the inflamed, painful injured areas are liberated. Better yet, instead of spending time, energy and money on intervention, spend a fraction of the time and energy on bottling before and after activities to maintain your new and improved long and strong body. This prevents old injured areas from being aggravated.
